Thermal coal (or steam coal) is burned to generate steam, which then drives turbines for electricity generation. Coking coal (or metallurgical coal) is heated in a low-oxygen environment to produce coke, a hard, porous substance used as a fuel and reducing agent in steelmaking.
GAR stands for Gross Air Received, which is the calorific value of the coal as it is received, including its total moisture content. NAR stands for Net As Received, which is the effective heat value after accounting for the energy lost in evaporating the moisture in the coal.
Coal quality is determined by several factors, including its calorific value (energy content), moisture content, ash content, sulfur content, and volatile matter. We provide a detailed Certificate of Analysis (COA) with every shipment.
Our typical MOQ for bulk export is a full vessel load, which can range from Supramax (approx. 50,000 metric tons) to Panamax (approx. 75,000 metric tons). Please contact us to discuss your specific volume requirements.
